Belmont House Beer wins 1st Prize in the Guesthouse category of ‘Beer in Bloom 2013/2014’

Belmont House Beer won 1st Prize in the Guesthouse category of ‘Beer in Bloom 2013/14’, a competition organized by Beer’s Horticultural Society.   Belmont House Beer is set in the heart of the delightful Devon fishing village of Beer, a narrow cove between gleaming white headlands, with a gurgling stream running through its centre. Just two minutes walk to the beach; Belmont House Beer is a charming 200 year old flint fisherman’s cottage.   Beer, an alluring coastal village centered within the Jurassic Coast, evolved around a smugglers cove and complex of caves which were historically used to store contraband goods. These caves are now part of the attraction of the village. The dominant building material is flint, a hard glassy stone found in the local chalk rock.   Beer’s Horticultural Society takes great pride in Beer’s flowers and arranges an annual Flower Show in August and a “Charm Show” (an exhibition of locally grown Charm Chrysanthemums) on the first Saturday of November every year. Beer is also successfully judged in the annual ‘Britain in Bloom’ competition.
